Bipul Kalita:- Good Morning and Welcome dear Sir to HAPPY SATURDAY W ITH AN EMINENT POE T, a weekly program of POE Marium by Dr Nk Sharma and WRITERS’ MIRROR, ASSAM, INDIA. Drkk Mathew :- Brief about myself.
You may visit my website: www.mathewpakalomattam.org
You won’t believe that I am the rarest of rare specimen. My life is a search. I had the inquisitiveness from childhood that there is a truth before me and I have to find that. My journey started at the age of 16. I won over countless trials which I had to face. At last I found out the truth 17 years ago. I realized, the truth is nothing but Jesus Christ. Since then Jesus is guiding and guarding me.I hear the words of Jesus and my duty is just to follow Him only. My search is still continuing and now I realize, it is never ending. I graduated from government medical college, Trivandrum in 1968 and passed MD in General Medicine from Maulana Azad Medical college, New Delhi in 1973. After discarding all better Prospects, I went to a rural region in Kerala state for the betterment of the rural population. I am working there since the past 45 years. I was the Chief Physician of a major mission Hospital there and I could save the lives of lakhs of very sick patients. The whole credit of my success goes to Jesus Christ as it is He who worked in me. Now I am working as Consultant physician. I have no fixed consultation fees. I have placed a box on my table in my consulting room. Patients can put any fees what they like. All poor patients are treated free. I was awarded as the best doctor of Kerala state by the state Government in 1997. I was also recognized as Outstanding Health professional World-Wide in 2007. I am a medical scientist of international repute . I am also an award winning Novelist in Malayalam and a reputed philosopher. I have made many innovations in medical science and some of them are the first of their kind in history. My discovery in the treatment of the dreadful disease 'Primary Cholanagitis' was corroborated by the scientists of Mayo clinic, North America only after 30 years. I came to the realization that I am a big zero and everything in me is Jesus Christ.
Bipul Kalita:-Happy to learn a lot about your carrier as a writer and outstanding heath professional. Who inspired you the most in your poetic journey ?
Drkk Mathew:- Nobody on earth inspired me in my poetic Journey. The inspiration is from Jesus Christ only. The truth is that what I write is dictated by Jesus. I could finish each poem in 15 minutes. I won’t rewrite it and I forget what I wrote. During the past 18 months, I could write about 1450 poems and I could publish 6 poetry books. The 7th one will be published after 3 months.
Bipul Kalita:- As a successful doctor, you have gathered a vast knowledge about man. How far does man occupy his place in your poetic creations?
Drkk Mathew:- Only Jesus Christ occupies fully in my poetic creation. Mathew’s involvement is 0% only.
Bipul Kalita:-You are already a published poet, dear Sir. Would you please mention the names of your booksalready published?

Bipul Kalita:-What subjects and themes do you basically like to choose for your poems?
Drkk Mathew:- Mainly mystic, highly spiritual and philosophical. My poems mainly deal with the unseen and unknown mysteries of God.
Bipul Kalita:-I have seen that your poems promptly gather audiences. Do you think that your poetic creations have been properly evaluated and appreciated?
Drkk Mathew:- My poetic creations have been properly evaluated and appreciated. The study, review and criticism of my shorter poems were done by eight great scholars in India including the Professors of Bhopal and Allahabad Universities and are compiled in book form ‘The World Within The World’. Please read the book in the book section of my Website. I received great appreciation and admiration for my books from many international personalities including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Mrs. Hillary Clinton.
Bipul Kalita:-What is your opinion on the overall standard of the poems of Indian poets writing in English?
Drkk Mathew:- I feel, the standard of the poems of Indian poets writing English is good.
Bipul Kalita:-You are a global poet. What is your opinion on the overall standard and trend of poetry around the globe?
Drkk Mathew:- I must say, the standard is excellent.
Bipul Kalita:- What is your opinion on the awards and certificates given nationally and globally to the poetic personalities on government and non-government organization levels?
Drkk Mathew:- I don’t give much importance to awards and certificates. My contentment is the joy I get when I know that my poems exerted impact in the mind of the readers and the experts. The greatest award I got recently is when the great scholar Suresh Chandra Dwivedi wrote “You write like Tagore and Milton”, when the literary genius Dr. Mathew Isaac wrote “Dr. K.K. Mathew is one of the greatest Christian mystic poets of modern times”, when the Great poet Chandan Bhattacharya wrote “You are one of the greatest poets all over the world”.
Bipul Kalita:-Do you think that e-books and e-journals have caused great harms to the traditional readers and book publishers?
Drkk Mathew:- I don't think so .They have their own flavour.
Bipul Kalita:-Whom do you think to be more successful Drkk Mathew, the doctor or Drkk Mathew the poet?
Drkk Mathew:- Poetry and medicine are equal to me. I am a very renowned physician. Like poetry, Jesus treats the sick through me. He gives me computerized spot diagnosis when I face very complicated cases. He has done numerous miracles through me. You can read some of them in the ‘ Blog’ section of my Website. TO SUM UP “THE WHOLE CREDIT OF MY SUCCESS GOES TO JESUS CHRIST ONLY, AS HE ACTED THROUGH ME. I AM ONLY AN INSTRUMENT OF HIM.
Bipul Kalita:-Please share one of your latest poems.
Drkk Mathew:- Here is one of the latest poems of me-
THE SHORE
The lucidity of what I prefer to have,
the magic of what I gain, the chat
I have with you on the hardship in run,
that I cherish for long, sweeter than
anything in me, that moment I waited
in the long run towards the end of me,
the whisper that moulds my heart, the
caress for a moment, soothes my soul,
what you dictate and I copy, the ink in
me, the wisdom, I bank on the boat on
which I sail to the shore, the farther end
where I vapour into the soul, the saga of
infinity that opens to the brightness ahead,
glows above anything which I tried to grab
below, where I failed miserably, my heart
torn but your whisper, caress, everything
for me, I sail to shore where you are waiting.

Bipul Kalita:-Which one/s the classical/romantic or modern poets attract you the most?
Drkk Mathew :- My role model is obviously John Keats. I don't follow anyone. I write what Jesus dictates to me .
Bipul Kalita:-Some of the poets still write following rhyme schemes imitating classical poets. Even some of them try to condemn/demean others who do not follow them. Do you think that the contemporary poets whose poetic creations seem to break traditional norms are not worth appreciations?
Drkk Mathew:- I don't think so.
Bipul Kalita:-Conflicts between grammarians and the poets have been going on. What is your opinion on the issue?
Drkk Mathew:- True Poetry is divine; it is something Godly. Then what is the importance of grammar ?It is what heart tells, that matter.
Bipul Kalita:-What message do you have for your readers and co-poets?
Drkk Mathew:- I would ask all of them to trust in God's immense power and read a lot before they set to write .
Bipul Kalita:-Thank you very much dear Sir for being with us this morning sharing your precious views with our adorable readers. Hope to meet you again

Poet Bala
in POEMarium by DrNK Sharma poetry group- Really amazed and learnt a lot from the optimistically unique review conducted by distinguished Bipul Kalita sir with a great personality Dr kk Mathew sir. On reading his divine service to the people as doctor made me understand the presence of God in the hearts of the good people. His artistic service to Indian Literature was amazing and he has given a lot to the future generation and as youngsters we need to learn the gem of words, ideas, themes and everything presented in his works. It's a very good life lesson for the all the writers. Though we reach great heights in life, we should understand the magic of God in it as our Mathew sir said. Without the help of God nothing will move.. awesome.. I thank our poemarium for honoring a wonderful human being. Congratulations to honourables Drkk Mathew sir, Bipul Kalita sir, Dasharath Naik sir, Bobita Saikia ma'am and special thanks to distinguished Nk Sharma sir for providing us this interview session.

Enjoyed reading the interview! Although Dr. Mathew’s mysticism seems to have some similarities to the mysticism of other mystic poets in the East and the West, his unique poetic genius, attitude, temper, and style all set him apart from the others. Mathew’s belief and his theology are deeply rooted in the Christian traditions in spite of the fact that he seemed to be culturally oriented in the Eastern philosophical and mystical traditions of the greatest poet Kabir. Like Kabir, the allegorical overtones of Mathew’s mystical poems too suggest that “moksha,” or in a quite Christian tradition “salvation,” is possible with the purity of the soul that gets in communion with the God. In Mathew’s belief system that God is his redeeming savior Jesus Christ as he has expressed through his many poems. This theology is passionately and metaphorically expressed in a Biblical context of the Christian religion in his poems, which greatly appeals to the heart than the intellect. The Christian philosophical doctrines, assumptions, and constructions in his poems distinguish him profoundly from the other mystical poets and set him apart from Rumi and Kabir. Because of these distinct theological differences of his mysticism, I consider Dr. K. K. Mathew as one of the greatest Christian mystic poets of modern times.
